The event is already underway, but there’s still plenty of time to get on the fun. You’ve got until Sunday, June 9th to swing by Vinoteca, where you can get a gourmet hot dog and a chance to help homeless dogs.
The restaurant will send $1.00 to City Dog Rescue for each hot dog that you buy this week. City Dog Rescue is a local non-profit organization that “rescues adoptable dogs from overcrowded, high-kill shelters.”
You wouldn’t normally associate hot dogs with a high-class place like Vinoteca. You probably wouldn’t associate hot dogs with a professional chef, either. Nevertheless, Executive Chef Lonnie Zoeller has created some fabulous looking gourmet hot dogs to mark the occasion. Each of these hot dogs truly takes the traditional summer food to the next level, offering participants a new culinary experience along with a chance to do some good.
And, of course, he’s designed a special cocktail to mark the event, too. It is a wine bar, after all. The cocktail is called “The Dog Days of Summer.”
Meanwhile, there are some absolutely adorable dogs looking for their forever homes out at City Dog Rescue. Just click here to find out who is available. You might just make a new friend.
And if a new dog isn’t in the cards this summer you might at least think about applying to become a dog foster parent, which serves a need that’s almost as great. The foster program keeps dogs in safe, comfortable environments while they are waiting for adoption.
If you do decide to adopt a dog this summer, don’t forget that summer presents some unique safety challenges. Be sure to check out our recent post on summer safety for pets!
